A group of youths in Kwara state have alleged that the Federal Government has embarked on Plot to frame up the Senate president, Bukola Saraki for a crime in order to arrest and prosecute him.

The group which operates under the aegis of Kwara Agenda alleged that  Saraki was being planned to be framed up for complicity in murder and cult activities.

The youths made the allegations when they protested to the Kwara State Governor, Abdulfaha Ahmed at the Government House in Ilorin on Wednesday.

They alleged that the federal government intended to frame up Saraki by engaging, for the plot,  a suspect,  Lanre Mohammed Soliu, who was arrested last week in Ilorin by the state police command for murder and being a member of Aiye Confraternity cult.

They alleged that in order to perfect the plot, the suspect who hails and lives in Ilorin has been transferred to the force headquarters in Abuja.

The people while making the protest carried placards with various inscriptions such as “Stop Intimidating Saraki”, “Fresh Plot To Frame Up Saraki Exposed”, Senator Saraki Is Our True Leader”, Saraki Is Championing The Cause Of The Masses”, “We Stand By Saraki”.

Addressing the governor on behalf of the group,  Taofiq Olateju, a legal practitioner, said the group wondered why the suspect would be allegedly transferred to Abuja when his alleged offences were committed in Ilorin and, consequentially, ought to have been tried by a court of competent jurisdiction in Ilorin.

He said: “Our concern is about the plot by the powers that be to torture and force the Yb to implicate Dr Bukola Saraki. We have it on good authority that the main purpose of transferring the self- confessed cultist to Abuja is to implicate the Senate President in the whole saga.”

While describing Saraki as a law abiding citizens Olateju enjoined people of the country to prevail on the federal government to stop alleged intimidation of the politician as he also warned the mastermind of the plot that the plan would fail.

“As concerned youths of Kwara state, we want to appeal to men of conscience across the country to prevail on the federal government to stop intimidating and humiliating our God – sent leader, the President of the Senate. No Senate President in the history of this country has been so humiliated and vilified as Senator Bukola Saraki, for no just cause.

“Saraki is our leader and a law-abiding citizen whose passion is to improve the lots of the common man. He should be left alone to continue the good job he and his colleagues are doing at the National Assembly.

“We are using this forum to warn those behind this fresh plot to frame and tarnish the image of our leader to retrace their steps. We have no doubt in our mind that this fresh plot like the ones before it shall fail woefully.

“Dr Bukola Saraki remains committed to the cause of the Nigerian masses, and their prayers and support shall always keep him going and ensure his victory over his adversaries, h stated.

The governor in his response said he has taken note of the complaint of the protesters and assured that the complaint would not suffer neglect.

He, however, urged the protesters to maintain peace in their protest and remain law abiding.
